While we were at the chiropractor's yesterday Dr. David was naming words for the kids to think of rhymes to go with them. They did "red", "chair", "goose". I told Dr. David he was good. All I thought of was "loose", but he suggested "juice", moose, and truce". As we were leaving Camie said, "What rhymes with "exit"? Dr. David stopped at the door and thought a second. "That's a good one, Camie. I can't think of anything that rhymes with that." Stumped by a five year old. When I told Matt he suggested "wrecks it", but I don't think that counts, being that it is two words.
It reminded me of a limerick I loved as a kid:
A king called for his wise men all
To find a rhyme for "W".
When they had thought a long, long time
And could not think of a single rhyme
"I'm sorry," he said, "to trouble you."
I used to wonder (in a little bit of frustration) if the wise men noticed he'd solved his own querry.
The other day Camie was trying to write some numbers on her dry-erase board. Micah committed the unthinkable and erased her "6". I heard a yell and peeked in the room to observe what was happening, without them noticing me. (It's more fun this way:) ) Camie pounded on Micah with her fists and explained how things were. He looked mad but left the room, much to my surprise. As I was getting on to Camie, prior to warming up her behind with the "magic wand behavior changer" Micah came back in the room with a long handled butterfly net. He pointed the handle at Camie and made shooting noises. Then he said "I soot you," and looked satisfied.
Now I'm not condoning the fact that he shot her as retribution, but man it was funny the way her did it. :) I was amazed that he didn't beat on her after her little show of emotion toward him. I managed not to laugh in their sight, but Matt and I got a good kick out of it later.
If I figure out how to post a video clip (help, anyone?), I'll show Micah doing one of his favorite past times: "playing" a guitar (i.e. anything with a long handle) and singing "Bessed be da name ob da Wuld" (that's 'Blessed be the name of the Lord', for those of you not up on your two-year-old dialect.) He nods his head in time and taps his foot, just like he's seen the youth guys do. It's extremely cute.
Matt and I went out on a date last night and saw a movie. Cassie of course went with us. She was great. I fed her as soon as the previews started and she slept the whole two hours. Boy that little body can heat mine up! I was sweating. I don't remember ever being hot in a theater. Afterwards Matt got us Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee for him, water for me. Mmm. It was midnight when we returned, and 1:15 before we were finally in bed and Cassie was asleep again. Whew. These date nights are harder now that we've got a party animal baby with us who is ready to party again just hours after I'm in bed. Praying I'll have no migraines today from lack of sleep. (I know what you're thinking Sara. Yes, I would eat a banana if I had one.)
Well, Party Animal is awake again and all the older kids have had is 2 donuts each and water. Guess I'll tend to my family now. . . and myself. Poor Matt is at work, but only for half a day. Looking forward to naps already!

About Me
- Mississippi Rose
- I'm a Southern gal raised in MS, married to my sweet Matt from MO, the busy mamma to 4 (soon to be 5)young children. I'm realizing more all the time how I am helpless to do anything for Christ on my own. Yet when I yield myself to Him and ask for His wisdom and His power to be the wife, mom, and woman of God He wants me to be I am amazed at how He gives it. And I'm finally beginning to really understand worship as more than a church service.
