Matt had his LASIK today. The surgery was fast; the waiting and pre-op stuff was long. His appointment was scheduled for 9:30. The info. packet they mailed him last week said to wear comfortable clothes because the wait could be 2-3 hours, depending on the flow of patients. (Matt suggested he show up in cut-off overalls with no shirt and say, "But this is wut I were at the house." in his best hillbilly accent. Thankfully, he owns none.) Well, we were leaving at 1:00. So far his vision isn't better. In fact right after surgery, when many people have said they could already see a difference, Matt said it was worse than before. About an hour later it cleared up a little. So unlike the man Jesus healed who said he first saw men as trees walking, and after another touch could see, Matt has gotten blinder for a while. We went to a Chinese buffet for lunch, and he was so pitiful. I had to read the name of each item for him, warn him of step-downs on the floor, and read his fortune cookie. (He tried, then handed it to me and said, "It's hurting my eyes trying to see it." I laughed because he had it upside down. Oh, and here's what his said
"A new outlook brightens your image and brings new friends."
I laughed pretty hard at the irony of that. His "outlook" wasn't too bright at that moment.
He finally owns sunglasses, a treat he's not had since the fourth grade. One of the "perks" of the procedure at this place was to pick out a $200 pair (Maui Jim's) that are supposed to be super-duper for filtering all the bad things out of light--plus they look cool and sporty--and have to pay tax only.
Right now he's napping--in superhero goggles. I need to sneak a picture of him and post it. :) He has to wear theses safety goggles so he doesn't bump or rub his eyes in his dopey state. They look like motorcycle glasses from the early 1900's. He even let me pick on him about it. :)
Other news:
The church is having a baby shower for me/us tomorrow. Theresa, the pastor's wife was the instigator. I felt kind of bad that we're being given a shower for baby #4, thinking we needed nothing, but then realized we really could use diapers and wipes. And it'll be fun to have some new newborn stuff, since this child is unlikely to have much during it's life that is not handed down. I'm grateful for the kindness and welcome we've been given at this church since joining back in November.
Spring has sprung. The azaleas are exploding like big pink popcorn puffs all over town, and the girls keep me well-supplied in any other flowers/grass/weeds we have growing around here to display in vases. Lissy seems to have a little decorator's touch. She'll patiently arrange flowers (even dead leaves one time) in a vase. It's so sweet. She found an "apple tree" that turned out to be an oak tree (plant ID is not a strong point for 3-year olds) with 4-5 leaves, and still attached to the acorn. It was fun to be a part of her excitement and plant it the yard. Lord, let that poor little tree grow for her.
Camie is learning to read. She can sound out short words, and tries to spell things on her own. (FLT MR was an early attempt at Felicity Marie.)
Micah is very 2. "No" is his answer to nearly all questions, or even "No I naw-wut" when told he's cute, sweet, stinky, strong, Micah, etc. His other new phrase is "Not meee" with an attempt at a grin when he sees us go for the spanker. The other day he was whining and I mentioned to Matt that there was a paddle on the fridge. We were surprised to hear this little voice pipe up, and the crying end, with a cheerful "Not meee." It's a good thing Matt was in the kitchen where Micah couldn't see him double over and laugh.
Well that's a long catch-up of our life. But, hey, you chose to come here and read it all. :)

About Me
- Mississippi Rose
- I'm a Southern gal raised in MS, married to my sweet Matt from MO, the busy mamma to 4 (soon to be 5)young children. I'm realizing more all the time how I am helpless to do anything for Christ on my own. Yet when I yield myself to Him and ask for His wisdom and His power to be the wife, mom, and woman of God He wants me to be I am amazed at how He gives it. And I'm finally beginning to really understand worship as more than a church service.

Thanks for the catch-up, Rose. Hope Matt can see clearly now. I'd love to see a pic of those goggles...
Have fun at your shower!
