Camie was watching me make scrambled eggs at the stove the other day and informed me that I could cook them in a bowl in the microwave the way Mam (my mom) does. "They are SOOO good. She cooks them the old-fashioned way, and you cook them the new way!"
So there you have it, folks. Microwave cooking is old-fashioned. :)
From the Land of Lissy:
Sometimes when the kids are needing motivation to clean the playroom I'll turn on some energetic music and tell them to try to finish before the song does. Yesterday Lissy was sitting beside me in church. While the offering was being taken, the choir was singing a very peppy, fast-paced special. Lissy watched the plate being passed then asked me, "Do they have to hurry up and finish before the song gets done?"
Matt built a fire outside last night, our first cool night of September. The kids had fun playing around it, but I heard Lissy warn Micah not to get too close to the smoke or it would grab him. (She was serious).
We started school last week and it went well. I had this week nearly planned when it dawned on me that Matt was off of work and school today. And if Daddy's home there's no way any school is getting done. :) So we've had a lazy Labor(less) day. Tomorrow we'll hit the books again.

We're trying a variation on a system called workboxes for the kids' school. As we get it more established I'll probably elaborate. So far it is going pretty well. My goal is to get Camie working fairly independently, and to have activities planned for Lissy and Micah related to our letter/number/shape of the week. I've had lots of fun, and they seem to also.
We made a quick trip to Missouri last weekend to buy a Toyota Matrix Matt found on Craigslist. It was about an hour from where his family lives, so our brother-in-law checked it out for us a few weeks ago and said it looked like a good car. We got the money together and drove up Friday, got the car that evening, played at the river Saturday, went out to eat with the WHOLE family (17 of us), then came back to his sister's house and enjoyed being outside in wonderful weather. Sunday morning we loaded up and drove home. It was a nice drive for me: the three older kids all wanted to ride with Daddy in the new car, so Cassie and I drove along in quiet most of the time. :)
My brain feels as lazy as my body, so that's all for now.

About Me
- Mississippi Rose
- I'm a Southern gal raised in MS, married to my sweet Matt from MO, the busy mamma to 4 (soon to be 5)young children. I'm realizing more all the time how I am helpless to do anything for Christ on my own. Yet when I yield myself to Him and ask for His wisdom and His power to be the wife, mom, and woman of God He wants me to be I am amazed at how He gives it. And I'm finally beginning to really understand worship as more than a church service.

I am laughing. I think my favorite comment is about the collection, but I love it that Camie thinks I am an old-fashioned cook.
