We have a favorite salve in the house called Bye-Bye Bruises (or "Boozes" as Cassie says it). I'm not sure how effective it is, physically anyway. Psychologically it works wonders. Apply the green goo, slap on a band-aid and the injury begins feeling better right away.
The other day Cassie apparently hit Micah on the head with a toy. He was telling me about it and she was talking over him loudly trying to avoid punishment, saying, "I said I was sowwy."
"Saying 'sorry' doesn't make it better. Nothing makes it better," was his offended reply.
"Salve will make it better. Bye-Bye Boozes will!"
He wasn't convinced. But I thought it was adorable.
Countdown to the due date is 3 weeks. Not like I'm counting. Every day. Sometimes by the hour. Hoping every Braxton Hicks is actually a real contraction. Dreaming at night about my water breaking. Repeatedly dreaming about labor and delivery and finally seeing our baby girl.
Cassie came past where I have the playpen set up for baby girl to sleep in upstairs and spied one of her teddy bears. She got all teary and almost frantic, saying, "My bear! It's in the bed and the baby will chew on it!" Matt had to remind her that since there was no baby in the bed, or even one born yet, it really was okay. But the bear is no longer in the playpen.
The kids and I have been reading "The Night of the Moonjellies" for their schoolwork. Moonjellies, we have all learned, are glow-in-the-dark jellyfish that light up the water at night. I read a suggestion to go along with learning about jellyfish: Put glowstick bracelets in their baths. I wrapped the bracelets in plastic wrap and tied a knot so they sort of had a "tail" (and those weird glowing chemicals weren't getting in their bathwater.) Then we turned out the light and they bathed with moonjellies. It was really cool and they loved it. I think this might be a repeat performance, but next time with little zip-lock sandwich bags to make it easier.
The homeschool group had a talent show today: The flyer said: "Can your kids sing? Play guitar? Recite poems, numbers, ABC's? Jump over piles of high stuff? Do drama? Build origami?"
Since our kids don't really do any of the typical things you find at a talent show, I was glad to see the "jump over piles of high stuff" category. Micah ended up doing jump-rope, Camie recited Matthew 5:14, Felicity drew a picture, and Cassie hopped like a bunny, complete with bunny-ear headband. One girl juggled two handkerchiefs, a boy built something from a lego kit in 4 minutes, some teens played guitar and sang an original song, one young boy did push-ups. It was so much fun seeing these little kids get up in front of the crowd of about 40 kids and mom, introduce themselves and show off their talent. And everyone who participated got a prize: candy.

I found, read, and commented on this post earlier this week, but Blogger did not save my comment.
I enjoyed reading more kid stuff, and love the account of the talent show. Mom
