Home again, home again

Camie, Emma, and Maggie playing jail at the shed at Melissa's.

JUMPING!. . . . .

We made it home from our wonderful vacation Monday night. Matt went to work Tuesday, and school Tues. night, so we sort of jumped right back into things. Well, he did, anyway. I'm still unpacking bags and catching up on laundry. I had three or four baskets of clean clothes I didn't bother folding before we left, so despite bringing home only a few dirty items, I still had lots of laundry to finish. And now the the dirty piles have grown in the few days we've been home, so I feel like I can't get caught up.

Another day, another post, I'll give a description of our time away. It was so much fun and definitely worth the hassle of packing it took to get us there. Many thousands of thanks to my 15 year old niece Katie who went with us as sort of a nanny. Matt and and I got to go to the waterpark minus kids one night, out to eat with Mike an Kristy minus kids another night, and out to play laser tags with all of Kristy's family. She was a tremendous help with baths, feeding kids, putting them to bed, etc. She might change her cell phone number after this so I can't call her for babysitting for a while :). but I think it went well. This was definitely the way to do a vacation with little kids. More later.

Today Lauren asked me to watch 2.5 year old Michael while she and Caroline went to see if Hudson's Salvage had any good deals. The kids spent most of the hour he was here outside playing. At one point, Michael was in the Cozy Coupe car and Lissy sat down on a stump about 40 feet away, "to watch Michael" she said. "In case there are any spiders in the car. Michael," she shouted, "are there any spiders?" :)

This morning I went outside with the kids and we ended up jumping on the trampoline. I actually let them wallow on me, climb on my back and be a little rough. I typically don't participate in the roughhousing they do with Matt, but decided to give it a try today. We had a lot of fun and laughing. At one point Camie kissed me and said, "You're the best mom we ever had!" I asked why she said so. "Because you jump on the trampoline with us and spend time with us." Yes, kids do spell love "t-i-m-e." I need to remember this everyday. It's just so hard when I don't have a maid to catch up on housework for me while I'm outside playing.
I'll try to post more pictures later. But right now Camie is up and chattering beside me. Guess I'll get off and continue being the best mom she ever had. :)

How sweet!! I am often reminded that quality time really is a child's favorite thing. I keep telling myself that housework will always be there, but the kids will grow up. ;)

Yeah, well, I'd be more willing to be The Best Mama if I had a maid doing the housework, too. Because the housework isn't just there, it multiplies while you wait.

Still, don't you love it when the kids have those rare moments when they realize how much you actually put into them?

Glad your trip went well. DJ & I both laughed aloud at the line about Katie changing her cell number; and how Lissy watched out for spiders.

I am so looking forward to seeing your cute kids in person.

The new pictures are great. The one of Felicity and the fall leaves looks like a professional model. Camie is right up there with Buncle Matt when it comes to paying compliments. And Wobin Hoo Wud is quite handsome.

About Me

My photo
I'm a Southern gal raised in MS, married to my sweet Matt from MO, the busy mamma to 4 (soon to be 5)young children. I'm realizing more all the time how I am helpless to do anything for Christ on my own. Yet when I yield myself to Him and ask for His wisdom and His power to be the wife, mom, and woman of God He wants me to be I am amazed at how He gives it. And I'm finally beginning to really understand worship as more than a church service.
