The Big Three-O

My 30th birthday was yesterday. I ended up sort of "taking the day off", as much as a mom of 4 (nearly)6 and under can do. I talked on the phone to my friend Becky in NJ, sister Sara in VA, chatted on face book again with Becky, lounged on the sofa, took a walk in the woods with the kids to see the flooded stream, and put of doing any chores with absolutely no guilt. Right before Matt came home the kids and I did the Hurry-Up Cleanup and got the living room looking pretty decent. Mom and La cooked me a birthday supper so around 6 we went there and ate. It was a very fun, relaxed birthday. Thirty didn't hit me hard like I've heard some say it does. I did notice that it feels young, since afterall, I unconsciously think of myself as 22 anyway. Yesterday morning dawned and, well, I still felt 22. :)

I decided to set up the tripod and take some pictures of myself on my thirtieth, since I so rarely end up in our pictures. I invited Camie and Lissy to dress up and join me, so here's what we ended up with before the battery on the camera died. I'm still figuring out how to get it to leave the self-timer on without having to reset it for every picture, so before we ran out of daylight, I decided to give it till later and just use the remote. Obviously I haven't figured out how to hide the remote and still get it to do the job. :)

Matt has class tonight, so I think I'll go try to catch a quick nap while all the kids are down. Tomorrow night we're supposed to go to a basketball game here in town. I'm considering that my bday gift: a family outing. Matt and I went out on a date spontaneously this past Sat., so we're unlikely to get another one anytime soon. I think the game will be lots of fun; supposed to be lots of ball tricks, comedy etc.

Happy birthday!

Wow. The trees (in your photos) have leaves on them. :-) Grant would sure like to be there right now, and able to go outside whenever he felt like it. It warmed up to the 20's and 30's this past week, so we bundled him up and Ed took him outside to play a few times, and his older cousin took him outside another time. Otherwise, Grant's been cooped up this winter.

About Me

My photo
I'm a Southern gal raised in MS, married to my sweet Matt from MO, the busy mamma to 4 (soon to be 5)young children. I'm realizing more all the time how I am helpless to do anything for Christ on my own. Yet when I yield myself to Him and ask for His wisdom and His power to be the wife, mom, and woman of God He wants me to be I am amazed at how He gives it. And I'm finally beginning to really understand worship as more than a church service.
