Happy birthday to me! Don't worry if you forgot to wish me great joy today, because I myself forgot it was the big day until my husband Matt texted me from work with a brithday message. Hmmm. I guess I've really become a grown-up now that I'm forgetting when I've turned a year older. I'm 29 today and that makes me a little anxious, like I'm approaching old-fogey-age without realizing how fast it's happening. :) I'm the "baby" out of the siblings though so even at 29, I can always compare myself to my older siblings who are 8-11 years older and come out feeling young again.
The kids and I went to get our hair cut this morning and then stopped at the stockyard where people were selling chickens, a duck, puppies, and some yard sale items. We walked over to the pens where the goats, pigs and cows were, but were about blown over by the smell ("It tinks" as Felicity reported to Matt). We were trying to much on some snack cakes and browinies we'd bought, but the stench of the animals was so overwhelming that I could taste only what I smelled. Ick. We didn't hang around there long.
That's about all for my big day. Matt and I went out on a date this past Saturday night which I condsidered my birthday present. I was really ready for some couple time without taking 2-3 kids with me to the bathroom, buckling and unbuckling times 3 at every stop and all the distractions that come with going out with kids. We even went in a bookstore and browsed. It's kind of funny that I feel so grown up during times like that, I guess because I'm not thinking on kid terms. We returned at about 1 am feeling worn out but refreshed.
When I told Camie it was my birthday she got excited and asked who was coming over? I told her no one was.
"Are you going to have a cake?"
"No."
"Why not?!"
"Because I dont feel like making one for myself, by myself."
" We'll help you!" (Ummm, I think it would be more enjoyable not to have one. Too many fingers in the batter and voices in the kitchen and bodies on the counter spoil the cake, you know.)
So now I'll go put Lissy down to joing Micah in Napland. Camie has school time while they first nap, then she has an hour or so of quiet time. Then my horribly messy kitchen awaits my attention.

About Me
- Mississippi Rose
- I'm a Southern gal raised in MS, married to my sweet Matt from MO, the busy mamma to 4 (soon to be 5)young children. I'm realizing more all the time how I am helpless to do anything for Christ on my own. Yet when I yield myself to Him and ask for His wisdom and His power to be the wife, mom, and woman of God He wants me to be I am amazed at how He gives it. And I'm finally beginning to really understand worship as more than a church service.

Yes, Addie dragged out construction paper, cut it into strips, and announced it was "streamers" for my "party" on Sunday. Then she asked me to help her hang them up. I reminded her that I'd said I wasn't having a party and I was cooking supper and I couldn't come hang streamers. What a party pooper I am!

At church supper last night when my birthday was announced Darwin Nelson asked Camie what she got me for my birthday. She was caught off guard by the attention I think and thought he asked how old I am . Her answer: 16. He said, "We all know she's 16, but I want to know what you gave her."
Once the baby, always the baby.
How funny, Rose, we got our hair cut yesterday too! I was thinking about you and hoping you had celebrated with your hubbie. I'm glad you were able to go out act like an adult. (:
